May Meeting:
Our May meeting was held on Saturday May 6 at UTD. Fred Greene made one of the best presentations that I have seen at our meetings. He showed slides from the archives of PAN AM airlines. The slides included pictures of the original Trans Pacific flight. as well as photos taken by Fred on the anniversary flight. Fred then showed his collection of memorabilia from the anniversary flight as well as his collection of First Day Covers for C115 the 44 cent Trans Pacific Airmail stamp of 1985.

Ben Franklin Chapter First Day Covers: Tricia Richmond is sending 20 sets of four
Chapter Covers to the USPS for First Day cancelling. These are the cachets that Tricia designed and Norm Cohen printed. We sold blank cachets at TEXPEX for the second day of issue cancel. We hope to have the FDOI serviced covers by our June meeting. A set of four covers will be available to chapter members for $8.00. Any remaining sets will be offered on e-bay for $10 a set. Help support our chapter by purchasing a set for you collection.

AMBER ALERT--FDOI May 25 in Arlington TX.:
Norm Cohen said we should expect an invitation from the USPS to attend the FDOI ceremony in Arlington. I have 60 chapter covers to service on that day along with some of the McIntosh cachets. Please call me if you can attend the ceremony - I need help to service and hopefully sell covers on that day. Ideally a few of us can car pool to Arlington - details of the location and time hopefully will come this week.

Fred Sawyer Tribute:
Cliff Way suggested that we create a plaque to display in the Wineburgh Library that would honor Fred Sawyer. Larry Sall has approved this idea. Cliff will coordinate this effort Please let Cliff know if you have any suggestions.

Best regards,
Paul H. Benson
