June 2006 Chapter Meeting Highlights: June Picnic Highlights: Our annual June BBQ meeting was held on June 24 at Jesse and Betty Coveys home in Plano. 15 people attended including Audrey Schlecht and Jeanne Sawyer. Due to threatening weather (which never came) we met inside rather than outdoors. The food was great including the homemade ice cream that Jesse is famous for. Tricia Richmond brought some of her latest covers - I purchased an attractive Disney set. We also had the new Franklin and Amber Alert Chapter covers. We did not hold a formal business meeting. I did suggest that I would like some help this Fall - especially in planning meetings. I did bring along a sample newletter from the Claude C Ries Chapter #48 from Southern California. You can access the chapter #48 web site at: www.rieschapterafdcs.com. They keep access to six newsletters on the web site. Upcoming Event Information: AMERICOVER is scheduled for August 4-6 in Independence, Ohio - 12+ miles from the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Sandy and I plan to attend. Next year Americover will be held in Stamford, Connecticut. Also keep in mind that the American Topical Association will hold its convention next June in Irving, Texas. Ray Cartier is the ATA President - you may recall he spoke at one of our chapter meetings on the subject of Space covers. Regards, |
