Texas Philatelic Association

December 2006 Chapter Meeting Highlights:

Highlights:

We had a nice turnout for our Christmas Party at the Bavarian Grill in Plano. We needed a few more attendees to secure a private room so we were in the middle of the action (lots of accordian music). All attendees received a limited edition Christmas First Day Cover designed by Tricia Richmond - she autographed and numbered all the cachets that she produced. Her efforts were donated and the chapter covered her expenses. THANKS TRICIA

Tricia also prepared an event cover for Veterans day - Mike Gibson serviced the covers in Grapevine - each member received a cover. Both covers carried the Chapter logo.

Chapter Business:

Time is running out for you to join or rejoin either the AFDCS or the Texas Philatelic Association and to take advantage of 2006 rates. The AFDCS is raising its annual dues on Jan 1 to $30 from the current $25. Save $5 and renew or join now.

Also the TPA is offering an incentive to join before Jan 1- the rate now is $10 a year and it will go to $12 on Jan 1. Membership applications can be found at http://www.texasphilatelic.org. The TPA Journal is now printed in full color by our good friend Norm Cohen. The Nov/Dec issue includes an article by Tom Koch on our 20th Anniversary Celebration I will bring it to our Jan meeting.

I hope you all saw our 3 page spread in the Dec 1 issue of First Days. Ron Aljoe, Tricia Richmond and our chapter made it happen. (not to mention my article). Both of these organizations(AFDCS, TPA) need our support.

Upcoming Events:

Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday January 13 at UTD. Starting time is 9:30AM with Swap and Shop - bring covers you would like to sell or trade. Our theme for the meeting will be "SHOW AND TELL". Remember grade school? Bring a few covers and be prepared to tell us why you chose the covers for show and tell.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,

Paul H. Benson
