April 2007 Chapter Meeting Highlights:

Chapter Business/Highlights:

We had a successful weekend at TEXPEX. We signed up three members for the society and we obtained the names and e-mail addresses of potential chapter members.
Many thanks to Loretta Starr who contacted members to staff our table. Loretta also worked at the table all three days! Thanks also to:John Preston,Tricia Richmond, Fred Starr, Cliff Way, Mike Gibson Jesse Covey and Paul Benson for staffing the table. A big thanks goes to Dave Fletcher who donated a significant number of great covers. We were able to put smiles on the faces of children who came by our booth and received a FDC (most covers chosen had Disney characters in the cachets) Some of our members who were participating in the show found a few covers of interest in the group we received from Dave and they were allowed to purchase some. All funds will go to our chapter treasury. We also sold Chapter 56 covers. One collector bought $30 worth on Sunday.

Also many thanks to Bob McDermott for an excellent presentation at our meeting on Saturday. We all learned alot about the history of the NY Stock Exchange as well as
the firm that Bob worked for, His collection of FDCs for the Stock Exchange stamp was incredible.

She has been an exhibitor at Americover and we hope that at a future meeting she can tell us about exhibiting First Day Covers.

Also thanks to the Richmond family for taking photos and getting them onto our web site.

Bob McDermott gave special House of Farnum covers to attendees at the Chapter
meeting. And. Mike Gibson gave us a Hershey Kisses FDC with a color cancel - his first cachet - it looks great. Thank you - Bob and Mike!!!

Reminder--next meeting is at UTD on May 12--Show and Tell "Ugly Covers"--all members should bring a few covers to show.. Also mark your calendar for June 9--our annual picnic --timing late afternoon to early evening,
