We are a local chapter of the American First Day Cover Society (AFDCS) located in the northern suburbs of Dallas, Texas. Chapter meetings are usually held on Saturday mornings at the Wineburgh Philatelic Library in the Special Collections area of the McDermott Library at the University of Texas at Dallas. Except during the summer months we generally meet on a monthly basis. We meet to study, trade and discuss First Day Covers, Event Covers and other items of philatelic interest.

The Chapter is open to all those interested in First Day Cover collecting from the beginner to the advanced collector. If you are a stamp collector and think you might have leanings towards FDC collecting - come and visit.

Special Announcements:

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
We need volunteers for the following positions:
- President: The current President will continue to serve if we can fill all the other positions.
- Treasurer: Maintains our funds in a checking account, reimburses members for expenses, reports Income and Expenses at each monthly meeting. Sends contributions as requested. (Bob McDermott has volunteered to serve as treasurer)
- Secretary: Maintains minutes of each meeting, sends meeting reminders, obtains agenda from the President and Program Coordinator. (Loretta Starr has volunteered to serve as treasurer)
- Program Coordinator: Communicates with members to obtain speakers for each meeting. We have been using a successful approach whereby a member takes a month and then plans a presentation. The coordinator would work with members to insure that we have a variety of topics. We will have 8 meetings in 2008-2009(Sept to May excludes Dec and June) The Program Coordinator can call upon an outside speaker as he/she sees fit.
